The story of Stickman

I wish tech wasn't here.

A walk on the beach, a stick, and nobody watching.

A small silhouetted figure walks along the wet sand at sunset, dragging a long stick behind him, with gentle waves and distant rocks on a peach and violet horizon.

Stickman, around sunset.

Every evening, he walks to the beach.

Every evening, Stickman would walk to the beach with nothing but a stick in his hand and the sound of the waves keeping him company.

He had no notifications to check, no messages to reply to, no pictures to take, and no pressure to prove to anyone that he was happy.

He simply lived.

He watched the sun disappear into the ocean. He felt the sand beneath his feet. He listened to the waves as they whispered stories nobody needed to record.

And somehow, that was enough.

Today, we have a camera for every beautiful moment, but sometimes forget to enjoy the moment itself. We have hundreds of online friends, yet we miss the people sitting right beside us. We capture sunsets to post them, conversations to share them, and memories to revisit later.

But what about the moments we never get to experience because we're too busy capturing them?

Stickman doesn't know about trending sounds, viral videos, or screen time. He doesn't know that somewhere, millions of people are watching him and wishing they could return to a life they once had.

A life where boredom wasn't something to escape.

Where silence wasn't uncomfortable.

Where a walk on the beach didn't need headphones.

Where happiness didn't need an audience.

Perhaps technology hasn't stolen our happiness. Perhaps, little by little, we've forgotten how to find it without a screen.

And if Stickman could speak, maybe he'd look at the sunset, take a deep breath, and say:

“I wish Tech wasn't here. Not because the world wouldn't be better with it, but because I miss the world we had before it became everything.”
